Centre for Spatial Analytics and Advanced GIS (C-SAG; www.csag.res.in) has been established as an independent Centre under the aegis of NIAS Council of Management (COM) and is supported by Tata Trusts. The vision of C-SAG is to build, develop and enhance knowledge capability in Spatial Analytics (SA) and advanced GIS that is founded on technological excellence, innovation and applications. The Centre incubates, develops and promotes excellence and innovation in SA applications, research, education, training and build overall national capability. Presently, C-SAG is working in few sectoral areas – Agriculture, Railways, Urban Management, Water Resources etc.
NIAS Council of Management, which is the management body for NIAS Society (Registered under Societies Registration Act, 1960) and is the apex body for C-SAG, is chaired by Mr S Ramadorai.
A high-level C-SAG International Advisory Board (C-SAG IAB) guides, mentors and provides the overall development and activities of C-SAG. The Board is chaired by Dr K Kasturirangan and has eminent personalities – thus, the C-SAG benefits from best of advice and guidance to further knowledge and excel in Spatial Analytics and GIS.
C-SAG is currently working on developing SA capabilities in agriculture sector through the implementation of an Agri-GIS for Tata Trusts in S Odisha. One of the major goals of C-SAG is specialised advanced training and orientation programmes in SA and advanced GIS – for government, private industry and for faculty training. C-SAG is organizing a workshop focusing on SA and advanced GIS - which will help participants to understand and work on SA tools that can help social sectors of development and also in overall governance activities of different regions.
The focus of workshop is on Spatial Analytics and geospatial modelling, the Workshop will provide perspective and concepts of Data Science, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Modelling – all centered around spatial data and geospatial applications. Specific applications and governance issues would be addressed in the Workshop that will bring awareness of using Deep Learning tools in GIS. With prime focus on Data Science, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Modelling, BIG data, cloud based data mining, the talks would also address central/state (federal) applications, industry involvement and special session on fostering long term collaborations in Spatial Analytics in national and international arena.
It gives me great pleasure to extend an invitation to the 1st International Workshop on Advanced Spatial Analytics and Deep Learning for Geospatial Applications being organised by C-SAG at NIAS Campus, Bengaluru in collaboration and association with ESRI Inc, Redlands; Indian Institute of Information Technology- Bengaluru (IIIT-B).
This is the first of its kind workshop in India which will provide perspective and concepts of Data Science, Data Analytics - particularly Spatial Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Modelling – all centered around spatial data and geospatial applications. Specific applications and governance issues would be addressed in the Workshop that will bring awareness of using Deep Learning tools in GIS. The Workshop would also address central/state (federal) applications, industry involvement and special session on fostering long term collaborations in Spatial Analytics education and research in national and international arena. The workshop will enable participants to get familiar with the new concepts of Spatial Analytics but also apply those concepts in some unique day-to-day GIS hands-on cases.
On behalf of NIAS-Council of Management and on behalf of C-SAG, I take this opportunity to invite participants from Indian central government agencies, state government agencies, academia and private sector AND international participants from various countries to make best use of this opportunity. A wide range of experts from India, USA, UK would conduct the workshop and address specific topics of futuristic importance.
CSAG has tremendous ability and capability in Spatial Analytics and has undertaken a major activity on Agri-GIS in S Odisha. We have a great team of experts in diverse fields, excellent facilities, and a set of best national and international repute Advisors. We will make best efforts to deliver a high-level workshop and build and further the knowledge base in Spatial Analytics.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for any information and I will be happy to provide any support. Our C-SAG team will be immensely happy to welcome you all to C-SAG and to the Workshop.
